Elyria Weddings client guide and FAQ for cinematic wedding videography in Melbourne

Q: What is your style?

A: What is your style?

We approach wedding filmmaking through two distinct visual aesthetics. Rather than using standard photography lenses or rigid shot lists, we craft your film using one of two dedicated cinema styles, tailored to the atmosphere of your day:

  • The Storybook Perspective (Documentary & Intimate)

This approach is built around raw, unscripted human emotion. We shoot using spherical cinema lenses and a handheld camera setup, allowing us to move freely and blend into the background. Spherical optics deliver clean detail, soft depth-of-field, and a classic, warm perspective that captures small glances, unprompted laughter, and natural interactions as they happen. It is an authentic, documentary-forward style that feels personal, candid, and deeply grounded in the real story of your wedding.

  • The Hollywood Widescreen (Cinematic & Sweeping)

This approach transforms your wedding day into a true feature film experience. We shoot using specialised anamorphic cinema lenses mounted on fluid gimbal stabilisers for ultra-smooth, sweeping camera motion. Anamorphic glass stretches the visual frame to create an expansive widescreen ratio, distinctive horizontal lens flares, and soft oval background blur. It brings an undeniable scale, elegance, and high-end visual weight to your film.

Whichever aesthetic speaks to you, our core philosophy stays the same. We prefer to step back and let moments happen naturally, though we may nudge you into a simple position or good light here and there depending on the situation. You will never be forced into uncomfortable, overly staged poses.

Q: Do you charge a travel fee?

A: We service all weddings across Greater Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, and Dandenong Ranges at no extra cost. For regional Victoria, interstate, or destination weddings located further out, a standard travel allowance applies to cover driving distance and logistics. Any applicable travel fees are clearly detailed before you confirm your package.

Q: How long does it take to receive our films?

A: Crafting a film with this much detail requires a dedicated post-production process. We focus on meticulous colour grading and intentional storytelling rather than a rushed turnaround. You can typically expect your highlight film and full collections within 8–12 weeks, depending on the season.

However, I know how exciting it is to share the day with your friends and family while the energy is still high. Because of this, we prioritise your 30-second reels, delivering those within 1–2 weeks of the wedding. This ensures you have high-impact, cinematic content to share across social media while I continue the deeper work on your main feature film.

Q: How is the music chosen?

A: Music is the foundation of the cinematic experience. I spend a significant amount of time sourcing licensed scores that capture the specific energy of your day, rather than just using mainstream radio hits.

This is a deliberate choice for two reasons: it gives your film a timeless sound, and it protects you from copyright filters. Popular songs are often flagged and muted by Instagram or Facebook, but by using professional, licensed music, you can share your film anywhere with the peace of mind that it will never be silenced or removed.
